Meet Sarah Wood, '21 Alum
Sarah is currently a second-year student at the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce where she is majoring in Intelligence/Security and minoring in Diplomacy. She received a BA from the University of Kentucky and holds a double major in Russian and Integrated Strategic Communication and a minor in International Studies. During 2018-2019, Sarah lived in Ukraine as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, where she taught to university students at Vasyl ‘Stus Donetsk National University, a university displaced to Vinnytsia from conflicted-affected areas in the East. During her time in Ukraine, Sarah travelled to various parts of the country to facilitate English language learning, participated in the Equal Opportunities for Vulnerable Children Project in the Luhansk region of Ukraine, and established a 5 week English radio program with her students at a local radio station in Vinnytsia. Currently, Sarah is interning with Babbage CoFounder in Lexington, a leading consulting and advocacy firm in government affairs, acting as a researcher for a DC-based due-diligence firm, and was a Teaching Assistant for Dr. Phillip Harling’s course “War and Society” in the UK History Department. At Patterson, Sarah had a strong focus on Eastern Europe and is interested in the politics and foreign policies of the post-soviet space.
