Meet Vivianne Leonard, 2021 Alum

Vivianne is currently employed with John Snow Inc., Research & Training Institute as a Program Coordinator in their International Division for the Country Health Information Systems and Data Use (CHISU). Operating in more than 15 countries, CHISU is a USAID Bureau for Global Health flagship funded projects that implements digital health strategies and supports countries; self-management in health data.

Meet Hillary Chidsey, 2021 Alum

Hillary Chidsey graduated in December 2021 and and began working as an evaluation and research assistant and project coordinator employed for the International Development Group LLC (IDG). She is now a Business Development Cost Specialist at International Republican Institute.

Meet J. T. Ice, 2003 Alum

John “J. T.” Ice graduated from Patterson in December 2004 and began working as a Foreign Service Officer (FSO) at the State Department. As an FSO, his career has included diplomatic postings to Afghanistan, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Kabul, Malawi, Senegal, and Turkey. Currently, Ice then attended the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island where he was a student in the College of Naval Warfare’s National Security and Strategic Studies Program.

Meet Chloe Ryan, 2019 Alum

Chloe Ryan graduated with Patterson’s 60th cohort in 2019. Currently, Ryan is a Special Assistant at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Science and Technology Branch (STB). The STB is comprised of five disciplines: Forensics, Scientific analysis, DNA analysis, Criminal Records and Information, and Operation Technology. As a Special Assistant, Ryan handles administrative coordination and assists in project management for the branch. Ryan’s long-term goal is to pursue a career in public relations or as an analyst in the FBI.

Meet Gregory Suber, 2020 Alum

Gregory Suber graduated in 2020 from the Patterson School and received the Stempel Award for displaying the strongest performance on the comprehensive exams. Prior to attending UK, Greg completed a year of service with AmeriCorps in Columbus, Ohio. He worked within the Columbus City School District for their College Access program. Greg is originally from Delaware, Ohio and attended McAllister College in St. Paul, Minnesota for his undergraduate degree.

Meet Richard Langstaff, 1981 Alum

Originally from Colorado, Richard Langstaff completed his bachelor’s degree at Rice University in Houston, Texas before attending the Patterson School. He was given the opportunity to spend his junior year in France which sparked a shift in his interests from law school to an international career after graduation. He began his search for a graduate program without fully understanding what an international career would mean for him. Richard ultimately landed at the Patterson School due to the influence of Director Vince Davis and the interdisciplinary nature of the program.

Meet Todd Glickson, 1991 Alum

Todd Glickson’s path after graduating from the Patterson School would prove to be one that was all his own, but he started out with dreams that would be familiar. “I didn’t want to be in just any US government agency,” he said. “I wanted to be in the State Department or the CIA. I interviewed to be in black market arms. That was the kind of stuff I wanted to do."

Meet Beverly Kirk, 1996 Alum

Beverly Kirk was destined to be a Wildcat. She is a sixth-generation Kentuckian who completed her undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism from Western Kentucky University. Kirk went on to pursue a career in television making stops at news organizations including NBC, NPR and CBS.

Meet Jamie Zimmerman, 2003 Alumna

Jamie Zimmerman graduated from Patterson in December 2003. She holds a B.A. in Foreign Languages and International Economics, and a Master's in International Political Economies and Development, both from the University of Kentucky.

Fall 2022 Crisis Simulation Exercise

On October 7 and 8, Patterson School students participated in the International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise, hosted by the Center for Strategic Leadership at the United States Army War College. This year's scenario was the South China Sea.
